News(Phnom Penh): On the afternoon of Thursday, 6 August 2026, at the Ministry of Commerce, Her Excellency CHAM Nimul, Minister of Commerce, received a courtesy call from Mrs. Yasmin Siddiqi, Country Director of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) for Cambodia, and her delegation. During the meeting, Her Excellency Minister welcomed the delegation and highly appreciated the progress made in the implementation of ongoing technical assistance and policy actions in support of the development of Cambodia’s trade sector and the enhancement of its competitiveness. In response, Mrs. Yasmin Siddiqi noted Cambodia’s progress and emerging opportunities in the trade sector, while reaffirming the ADB’s strong commitment to continuing its technical assistance and support for Cambodia, particularly as the country prepares for its graduation from the Least Developed Country (LDC). Both sides also exchanged views and discussed opportunities to further strengthen cooperation through the development of additional technical assistance projects and new initiatives aligned with the key priorities of Cambodia’s trade sector. The discussion reflected the shared commitment of the Ministry of Commerce and the Asian Development Bank to promoting sustainable trade development, strengthening institutional capacity, and supporting Cambodia’s continued economic transformation.
News(Phnom Penh): On the morning of Thursday, 6 August 2026, at the Ministry of Commerce, His Excellency KEM Sithan, Permanent Secretary of State of the Ministry of Commerce and High Representative of Her Excellency CHAM Nimul, Minister of Commerce, chaired the weekly meeting attended by the Ministry's leaders, including the Secretary of State, Undersecretary of State, Secretary General, Director General, Directors of Departments, Directors of Provincial Departments, and other officials. The weekly meeting was held at the Ministry of Commerce and via video conference, covering the following agenda: 1. Brief Report on the results of Cambodia’s participation in the 68th Series of Meetings of the Assemblies of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) held in Geneva, Switzerland. 2. Brief Report on the work progress of the Directorate-General of Trade Policy and Trade Promotion. 3. Brief Report on the work progress of the Department of Digital Trade Development. 4. Brief Report on the work progress of the Trade Attaché at the Embassy of the Kingdom of Cambodia to the United Kingdom. 5. Brief Report on the work progress of the Prey Veng Provincial Department of Commerce and the Provincial Branch of the Consumer Protection and Competition Directorate-General (CCF). 6. Comments and input from the MOC's leaders in charge of respective departments and provincial departments of commerce, as well as other interventions.
News(Phnom Penh): On the afternoon of Wednesday, 5 August 2026, His Excellency KIM Sithan, Permanent Secretary of State of the Ministry of Commerce, accompanied by Their Excellencies and Lok Chumteavs, Secretaries of State, Under-Secretaries of State, the Secretary-General, Directors-General, Department Directors, and Institute Directors, granted an audience to 80 Cambodian scholarship awardees who will pursue higher education in the Czech Republic, Hungary, the European Union, Japan, and France for the 2026 academic year. The students paid a courtesy call on the Ministry's leadership and received valuable guidance and advice prior to their departure for overseas studies. On this occasion, His Excellency the Permanent Secretary of State expressed his great pleasure and extended his heartfelt congratulations to all scholarship recipients. He encouraged them to make the most of this valuable opportunity by pursuing academic excellence and acquiring advanced knowledge, professional skills, and new experiences in various fields, including science, engineering and technology, humanities, and social sciences. His Excellency the Permanent Secretary of State further advised the scholarship awardees to maintain solidarity and good relationships with one another, remain diligent in their studies, continuously enhance their knowledge and professional competencies, and serve as ambassadors of Cambodia by promoting the Kingdom's rich culture, traditions, and national identity while studying abroad.
